Q. What information do we collect from users and how is it used?
A. Artful Crafter is the sole owner of the information collected on this site. By this is meant that no other parties are privy to the information collected. We do not sell, share, or in any other way make this information available to others. We collect this information for purposes of maintaining a mailling list for patrons of the Artful Crafter, Inc. pottery studio. Additionally we collect only such information as is required to offer online shopping with credit card payment. Artful Crafter collects address and email information on our mailing list page for purposes of compilimg a list for announcements related to classes and special events at the studio. For the purpose of conducting online shopping ArtfulCrafter.com collects billing address, shipping address, credit card information including name, number and expiration date. This information is collected on steps 1 and 2 of the check out pages. Email address is also collected for the purpose of acknowledging acceptance of the order and for conveying additional information related to the subsequent processing of the order. This information is only shared with the credit card processing company and the shipping company.
Q. How Secure Is Collected Information?
A. We work to protect the security of your information during transmission by using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) software, which encrypts information you input. We reveal only the last five digits of your credit card numbers when confirming an order. Of course, we transmit the entire credit card number to the appropriate credit card company during order processing. During processing we encrypt sensitive data such as credit card number with 128 bit Triple DES encryption. Please review our Security Policy for more detail.
Q. What are your privacy choices?
A. As discussed above, you can always choose not to provide information, however this may result in your not being able to take advantage of the features our mailing list or online store may provide. We provide members of our electronic mailing list the ability to be "taken off" the list in a simple, online method.
Q. How are Cookies handled?
A. A cookie is a data file that certain Web sites write to your computer's hard drive when you visit their sites. A cookie file can contain information, such as a user identification code. ArtfulCrafter.com uses cookies solely to track purchasing choices that the user makes such as a shopping cart so that the user can check out a number of items all at once. Most Web site browsers automatically accept cookies, but you can usually change your browser settings to display a warning before accepting a cookie, or to refuse all cookies. However, if you choose to disable the receipt of cookies from our Web site, you will not be able to perform online shopping.
Q. Is information always collected?
A. No information is not always collected. If you visit our site and do not join our mailing list, either becuase you already are a member or do not want to then no personal information related the mailing list page is collected. Similarly if you do not check out a shopping cart then no personal or credit card information is collected.
Q. How is email information used?
A. Email information is collected and used in two distinct ways. It is collected for the studio mailing list and secondly it is collected for support of online shopping. The two sets of email information are stored separately and used separately. You can participate in the mailing list while choosing not to participate in online shopping. Conversely you can participate in online shopping and not join the mailing list. The mailing list is strictly for news of activities and new products at the Artful Crafter, Inc. studio. Idividuals who participate in artfulcrafter.com online shopping but who do not join the mailing list will not receive the studio mailing list news letters.
Q. How do we share information with others?
A. The only information we share with others is that information necerssary to fulfil online orders including the credit card processing company and shipping company. We do not share email addresses with any other parties. e do not contribute or participate in shared or cooperative databases which give other companies access to your personal information.
